In this the first of series of quick interviews I stop by with the Fantasy and SF writer Andy Remic. Author of Kell’s Legend, Soul Stealers, Vampire Warlords, War Machine and the fantastic Biohell to name a few. You can view more about him at http://www.andyremic.com/. We took time out to discuss his writing and his new foray into e-publishing, Anarchy Books.
I think it’s important to have a “legitimate” publisher for the purposes of industry kudos, but to be honest, the more I’ve worked with different publishing professionals, the more fascinated I’ve become by the whole process. I though it would be a fun experiment to try and publish one of my own books, but then the whole process very quickly snowballed. I kept having ideas, about including tie-in albums and films, until we ended up with what Anarchy Books is now. It’ll probably still expand as well! It’s a very big headache at the moment 🙂
So do you see there being a problem with digital media and if so, what is it?
The only problem I really see with digital media is that some people enjoy the real physical entity that is a book. I, too, very much enjoy real novels… And so I think there will always be a core of book junkies. However, digital readers are in their infancy so who knows what miracles wait around the corner? A digital book with paper thin pages to which you download text? Hey, I should patent that!! And then of course, we’ll no doubt soon get trojans, viruses and Kindle Spam. No, I DO NOT need viagra!!
Andy Remic is the author of many Fantasy and SF novels, currently – Spiral, Quake, Warhead, War Machine, Biohell, Hardcore, Kell’s Legend, Soul Stealers, Cloneworld and the impending Vampire Warlords. He’s a hard-talking, hard-fighting fluffy bunny rabbit of a man, who enjoys mountain biking, film making, mountain climbing, kick boxing and red hot chilli peppers! He has an unhealthy love of chainsaws, and has sometimes been accused of literature. He has just started his own ebook publishers, www.anarchy-books.com with the aim of kicking digital media up the ass.
